When you are running a mission again, the fastest answer is usually to wait for the scene to settle, then check the screen for a Skip prompt. That is the only cue that really matters. Players using GTA 5 Accounts while catching up on Story Mode content often expect one button to work every time, but GTA 5 does not handle cinematics that way. On PC, Esc may skip the scene or open the pause menu, where a Skip option can appear. On console, use the face button shown in the prompt. If there is no prompt and no menu option, don't keep hammering buttons. The mission has probably locked that sequence.
You'll notice this pretty quickly when replaying jobs. One briefing ends after a tap, while another keeps rolling no matter what you press. That isn't always a control problem. GTA 5 checks what kind of scene is playing, where you are in the mission, and whether it has been viewed before. A normal story cinematic is often easier to skip than an opening introduction or a fixed-camera action that is actually part of the mission script. Skipping a scene only removes the movie part, by the way. You still have to drive, shoot, sneak, or complete whatever comes next.
Online makes things messier because the game is also trying to place everyone in the same mission state. A cutscene may be loading an interior, assigning roles, or waiting for a teammate who has never seen the introduction. That is why a skip can feel delayed, or why one player appears ready while everyone else is still watching. Here are the common reasons a scene stays on screen.
Give the opening few seconds a moment, then use the exact control shown on screen. If you are on PC, make sure the game window has focus; overlays and a second controller can sometimes steal the input. In Story Mode, pause once and look for Skip rather than cycling through menus. In Online, it is worth asking the crew whether someone is new to the job. That simple question saves a lot of confusion. Switching sessions is not a proper skip either. It can throw away the current setup and send you back into free roam. Glitches that interrupt cameras are even worse, since they can leave objectives missing or force a restart.
There is still no global setting that removes every GTA 5 cinematic. The reliable rule is plain: use Skip when Rockstar displays it, and let the scene play when it does not. Repeat briefings are where the lack of control feels most annoying, especially in Online, but a forced exit can cost more time than the dialogue itself. If you are preparing for expensive jobs and want to avoid wasting a run, checking your setup and GTA 5 Online Money for sale options before launching can help keep the focus on the mission rather than a reset screen.
