Backwoods Energy Services, a 100% Indigenous-owned company, is one of Western Canada's largest and most sophisticated Indigenous contractors. Their services encompass security, access matting, forestry, civil, environmental, and mechanical construction, primarily serving the oil, gas, utility, and forestry industries. With a mission to drive economic opportunity by empowering Indigenous people and communities, Backwoods has established a strong presence in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and Cold Lake regions.

Through this partnership, WLMG leverages its contracting capabilities to provide a local Indigenous option for clients in the region. The collaboration aims to strengthen community capacity through employment, training, and revenue opportunities that directly support community development initiatives.
